The Person

Ian Martin – I work at the intersection of construction and technology — a space that’s evolving faster than most people in the industry realize. My background spans 3D laser scanning, BIM coordination, digital twin development, and construction project workflows. I’ve been in the field, on the jobsite, and behind the screen.

I created TheConTechGuy because I saw a gap. There are plenty of corporate blogs and vendor-sponsored content in the AEC space, but not enough independent voices giving it to you straight. I wanted to build something different — a platform where construction professionals can get real insights about the technology that’s changing their work, without the marketing spin.

The Mission

TheConTechGuy exists to make construction technology accessible, understandable, and actionable. Whether you’re a project manager exploring your first BIM platform, a superintendent curious about reality capture, or a tech-forward GC looking for the next competitive edge — this is your resource.

I cover everything from laser scanners and point cloud processing to AI-driven scheduling, modular construction, and the platforms connecting it all together. If it touches construction and technology, it’s fair game.
